January 7 - Danish-based and owned BaltShip A/S, has created Baltship (China) Co Ltd, headquartered in Beijing, strengthening its presence in one of the most important markets for project cargoes in the world, reports Claus Holk Poulsen, director Internat
According to Poulsen, following three years operating through a representative office, aggressive expansion plans have necessitated the creation of a stronger operational platform.
Through the partnership with Danish co-investor Industrialisation Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), the new venture indicates a strong local presence with a in-depth knowledge of local business cultures in China. IFU has developed an impressive track record from investments into diverse companies and industries throughout China.
Baltship (China) Co Ltd is managed by Peter Viig Christensen, and in a good position to increase its involvement in the fast growing wind turbine industry, where the company has gained valuable experience over the last three years, says Poulsen.
As part of a diversification strategy, Baltship is also turning its attention to other industry segments. The services offered comprise door to door solutions, including haulage, cargo handling, port operations, ships chartering, and project management. Services such as containers shipments and airfreight are also offered as an integrated part of the project execution itself.
