March 6 - AMI International of Mauritius has acquired the Bidvest Group's shareholding in Manica Holdings of South Africa.
Manica Holdings presently operate subsidiaries, under the name of Manica, in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Under the terms of the agreement, AMI International, through Manica Holdings, has an exclusive option to acquire the Bidvest's shareholding in Manica Malawi and Zambia within the next six months.
AMI International is an international freight forwarding and logistics company, headquartered in Dubai, UAE with subsidiaries in China, India, Pakistan and USA.
In East Africa, the company has offices in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
It says that the acquisition of the Manica network will allow AMI International to significantly increase its footprint in East and Southern Africa, allowing the company to be fully operational in all the countries in the region and, at the same time, offer its customers the guarantees of an international network.
