November 27 - Aarhus Logistics Centre (ALC) has signed an agreement to take over the activities of Cargo Service at the Danish Port of Aarhus.
"By acquiring the activities of Cargo Service we ensure an overall strengthening, both organisational, as well as in relation to the products," said ALC managing director Jørgen Nielsen. "Our machinery handling capacity as well as our warehouse capacity will also be increased considerably."
Following the acquisition, ALC will have 47,000 sq m of warehouse facility at its disposal, alongside machinery with a maximum lifting of 100 tonnes. The company will provide a number of services, including stevedoring, warehousing, handling, terminal services, welding, crating, distribution and lashing.
"It is our opinion that ALC's acquisition of the activities of Cargo Service will make it possible to further develop competitive logistics solutions in the Port of Aarhus for the benefit of the company's clients, our employees and the port," said Ole Sehested, member of the Cargo Service Holding board.
In connection with the acquisition, Lars Krabbe will resign as ceo of Cargo Service.
