May 12 - Advance International Transport is nearing the mid-way point of a significant contract to move engines to power eight 56,000 dwt multipurpose ships being constructed in Bulgaria.
The global project cargo forwarder is shipping the engines from Mitsubishi's manufacturing plant in Japan and loading them at the port of Aioi, near Kobe.
The latest engine was delivered recently, bringing to three the number shipped so far in completion of the contract. The first two engines, which each weigh 235 tonnes, were delivered five months ago to the Bulyard shipyard at Varna, Bulgaria. The fourth engine is on route.
Accompanying the engine recently delivered were all deck cranes and accessories. The weight of the total cargo was over 4,000 freight tonnes.
Commenting on the shipment, Jawad Kamel, Advance International's president and CEO said: "Now that the third engine has been moved, we are looking forward to achieving the halfway point soon when the fourth engine arrives from Japan. As forwarders, we are helping to secure business for Bulyard by the timely and economic delivery of engines for this prestigious contract."
