May 29 - Able UK has been awarded the contract for the disposal of four offshore structures from the Shell-operated Brent field, which is located northeast of the Shetland Islands.

The contract will see three platform topsides, as well as a 138 m high steel platform jacket, transported from offshore Scotland to Able Seaton Port, where the structures will be dismantled and recycled using the latest techniques and technologies.

Able UK group development director Neil Etherington recently spoke at the Decom Offshore 2015 conference in Aberdeen about Able Seaton Port's capacity for the decommissioning and recycling of offshore structures.

"Currently we are investing in a major programme of work at the facility - including construction of what will be one of Europe's heaviest load bearing quays, enabling platform jackets and topsides to be loaded onto it for dismantling," said Etherington.
