July 1 - The Netherlands headquartered shipping line Abis Shipping recently celebrated the christening of its latest newbuild, Abis Esbjerg, at a ceremony in Harlingen.
Built at the CIG Shipyard in Poland, Abis Esbjerg is a 4,400 dwt multipurpose vessel equipped with two 150-tonne capacity cranes, which in tandem are capable of handling loads up to 300 tonnes. A 4,000 KW main engine propels her to a service speed as high as 15 knots.
The Abis Esbjerg was christened by Mrs. Zablo?ski, wife of Arkadiusz Zablo?ski, director export finance department of the Polish bank financing the newbuild, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
The vessel has an overall length of 111.6 m, a breadth of 26.94 m and a draught of 5.95 m. One single hold has a volume of 6,7700 cu m (239,000 cu ft); the lower hold has the dimensions 45.2 m x 11.5 m, tween deck dimensions measure 63.50 m x 12 m, and the hatch measures 66 m x 12 m.
Ocean7 Projects is the commercial manager for the new ships and will be responsible for attracting heavy, out-of-gauge and other project cargoes for them.
Abis Esbjerg is the final ship to be delivered in a six sistership order.
