Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship (MLOCS) has appointed Just Be Maritime (JMB) as the scheme’s training provider.
MLOCS is a charity that enables young people to commence the three years of training required to become a merchant navy officer following a deck (navigation), marine engineer or electro-technical (ETO) professional pathway.
The charity has raised more than GBP3 million (USD3.8 million) in support of cadet training, with cadets benefitting from a wide range of experience in the maritime services sector along the way.
“We are delighted to be appointing Just Be Maritime (JBM) as our new training provider,” said Anthony Vlasto, chairman of MLOCS. “The deep experience of the JBM team in all aspects of cadet management will greatly enhance our offering to the potential seafarers of tomorrow and we look forward to a long and fruitful association to the benefit of our current and future cadets.”
Don Millar, managing director of JBM, added: “With its longstanding commitment to funding officer cadetships, we are excited that MLOCS has decided to engage Just Be Maritime’s services in support of their cadet training programme. We look forward to working closely with everyone in the MLOCS team.”
