Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean (WW Ocean) held a virtual naming ceremony for the latest addition to its fleet – the HERO-Class vessel Tannhauser.
Tannhauser boasts 13 liftable decks to accommodate different types of cargo; a wide stern ramp for safe and efficient flow of traffic; an optimised hull for reduced fuel consumption; and digital navigation aids.
Craig Jasienski, ceo of Wallenius Wilhelmsen, said: “Given Tannhauser’s technology and capabilities, she will not only help to service our customers, but will also help to contribute to the target set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) of 40 percent reduced emissions by 2030.”
He added that Wallenius Wilhelmsen has already achieved a 35 percent reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne/km on its ships.
Jasienski delivered the online event from Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s Oslo office, which allowed viewers to experience a virtual tour of the vessel.
