Wallenius SOL – the joint venture of Wallenius and Swedish Orient Line (SOL) – will add Finland’s port of Vaasa to its regular liner network from November 2019.
Wallenius SOL will provide weekly calls to Vaasa, connecting the gateway with the Belgian ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge.
The port call is part of a long-term industrial cooperation with Wärtsilä, which is constructing a production facility in Vaskiluoto. The site will enter operation from 2021.
According to Wallenius SOL, all Wärtsilä inbound deliveries to Vaasa from Central Europe will be routed via Antwerp, where the shipping line will load the cargoes on its weekly service.
In addition, Wallenius SOL will ship the ready-made engines from Wärtsilä to its customers worldwide, also using Antwerp as a transhipment hub.
Other customers will be able to capitalise on the service, which will facilitate the shipment of trailers, containers and ro-ro cargo.
