April 14 - Van Doosselaere & Achten, one of Antwerp's oldest established private liner shipping agents, which was founded in 1939, has ceased activities with immediate effect and filed for bankruptcy.
The agent's client list has dwindled over the years as former employees and principals set up their own agencies and clients migrated or took their agency operations in house.
The diminishing business from remaining clients, which included Deutsche Afrika Linien and Ocean World Lines, did not provide sufficient income to keep the agent going.
