The Suez Canal Authority said in a circular that it will increase canal tolls by up to 10 percent for laden and ballast vessels.
The increase will come into effect at the start of March 2022 and was “in line with the significant growth in global trade, the improvement of ships’ economies, the Suez Canal waterway development and the enhancement of the transit service.”
For general cargo, multipurpose, heavy lift and ro-ro vessels transiting in both directions, a surcharge of 7 percent will be added over and above normal transit dues.
