An official keel-laying ceremony at the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in China has marked the beginning of the construction phase of the hull and exterior parts of Stena Line's new ro-pax vessels.
The four vessels are scheduled to be delivered during 2019 and 2020, and, according to Stena, will be 50 percent bigger than today's standard ro-pax vessels.
"Our overall target is that these vessels will be the absolute state-of-the-art when it comes to energy efficiency, flexibility and customer service," explained Niclas Mårtensson, Stena Line ceo.
The ro-pax vessels will be deployed on the Irish Sea.
