Silk Way West Airlines is to increase its service between Baku, Azerbaijan and Zhengzhou, China from four to six flights per week.
The carrier announced the enhanced service at the ICAO Cargo conference in the Chinese city earlier this month.
President and chief executive, Wolfgang Meier, said that the carrier had emerged as one of the leading cargo carriers in Zhengzhou and was aiming to further increase tonnage and flights. He added: “Zhengzhou provides for us the perfect platform to grow in view of our core capabilities to serve the Silk Air Route in accordance to the One Belt – One Road [Belt and Road Initiative] strategy the Chinese Government is strategically pursuing.”
Through Silk Way’s global hub in Baku, the service can connect to the airline’s extensive network covering Russia, central Asia and Eastern Europe.
