Belgium’s Sallaum Lines aims to double its fleet by 2027 with the addition of eight ro-ro vessels.
“There is no time to waste. Our next big milestone will be having a fully optimised ‘green’ vessel fleet by 2026,” said Sami Sallaum, chairman of Sallaum Lines. The ro-ro carrier plans to acquire LNG-fuelled newbuildings, while its existing fleet will undergo extensive retrofitting and optimisations. The carrier aims to reduce its CO2 emissions by some 40 percent by 2030.
Sallaum Lines said that it plans to transition to biofuels and continue to explore and utilise alternative energy sources. The company’s goal is to be fully powered by renewable sources by 2045.
