Germany-based SAL Heavy Lift has inaugurated its third Orca-class heavy lift vessel, Patricia at the Wuhu Shipyard in China.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Harren Group was held at the Wuhu Shipyard. The 14,600-dwt ship possesses hybrid propulsion systems as well as fully electric cranes, which can each handle 800 tonnes, and can handle cargo which measures up to 107 m x 18.5 m x 13.3 m.
It follows the launch of Frida in November 2024, SAL’s second of five Orca-class heavy lift vessels.
The Orca-class vessels have been designed to meet the needs of heavy lift shipping while reducing carbon emissions.
