Roll Group has held a steel cutting ceremony in Batam, Indonesia, for the latest addition to its fleet – the Roll Barge One.
Scheduled for delivery by ASL Yards in the third quarter of 2024, it will mark Roll Group’s entry into the heavy barge market with its own assets, moving away from reliance on rented equipment.
Peter Rondhuis, ceo of Roll Group, said: “Roll Barge One represents the first of many we plan to build. We’re confident this will be a valuable and productive addition to our diverse fleet of ships, cranes and land transportation, enabling us to better serve our clients’ needs.”
The barge will be used first at an Australian project where it will carry modules; it will accompany one of Roll Group’s dock vessels for the transport operations.
