P&O Ferrymasters has launched multimodal services from Italy to Norway to expand its pan-European network.
The service includes rail links between the main terminals in northern Italy and the ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Moerdijk in the Netherlands. From there, goods are shipped by sea to the Norwegian ports of Tananger, Bergen and Ålesund.
P&O said that other ports could be used to minimise road journeys in Norway.
Goods can be transported using 45 ft containers, swap body units or tilt trailers. P&O said it will serve customers needing to move heavy and oversized cargo using its specialist project cargo service.
