Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has held a keel laying ceremony for its installation crane vessel that is currently under construction at the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) facility in Jiangsu.
The Alfa Lift vessel includes a 3,000-tonne capacity crane from Liebherr and will be able to perform heavy lift operations while the main deck is submerged. It is due to enter service in 2021 and will be used for the installation of offshore wind turbine foundations.
Now that the fabricated blocks have come together for assembly in the dry dock, OHT said the vessel is starting to take shape. This follows the steel cutting ceremony, which took place in March, as HLPFI reported here.
