DEME Offshore has awarded Norway-based Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) a contract for the transport of 48 jacket foundations destined for the 950 MW Moray East offshore wind project in Scotland, UK.
OHT will deliver the foundations from the Lamprell fabrication yard in the UAE to the port of Nigg in the Scottish Highlands. It will use three of its largest open deck semi-submersible vessels to complete the work.
The three-legged jackets weigh in excess of 1,000 tonnes and measure up to 80 m in height. OHT ships will transport eight jackets per voyage, on average. All 48 structures will be delivered to Scotland by September 2020.
