August 29 - Nurminen Logistics has signed a letter of intent with UTLC, a joint venture between Russian, Kazakhstan and Belarusian state railways, for cooperation on a railway route linking Finland and China.
The new, fast rail connection will run from Finland to Central China via Kazakhstan, and will shorten transit time from 80 to 20 days.
The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2014.
Olli Pohjanvirta, president and ceo of Nurminen, stated that the company believes a fast, regular rail connection to China will be of particular interest to European forest and mechanical engineering industry companies.
