The vessel features various environmentally friendly features. The ship’s hull is made from JFE Steel’s JGreeX – a green steel that is significantly less CO2 intensive than traditional steels.

Prima Verde is also equipped with two VentoFoil wind power assisted vessel propulsion devices, which will reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions. The main engine from Japan Engine Corporation can run exclusively on MGO.

MOL said the vessel is suited for transport of steel products, construction machinery, heavy machinery, plant equipment, railroad vehicles, and bulk cargoes.

In September 2024, MOL christened its LNG-fuelled car carrier, Celeste Ace.
