Modern Construction Group will design and construct three key facilities that will form part of the Silk Way Cargo Village: a cargo terminal, office buildings and a shared freight forwarder facility.

“This agreement marks a transformative step toward establishing Azerbaijan as a premier global logistics hub,” stated Jawad Dbila, managing director of SW AFEZCO. “The fully automated 30,000 sq m cargo terminal, the largest in the Caspian Sea region, will set new standards in sustainable construction and enhance trade connectivity between Europe and Asia, solidifying Azerbaijan’s strategic role in the global logistics network.

HLPFI reported on November 14 that Silk Way Group would develop a new cargo airport in the Alat Free Economic Zone, Azerbaijan. Announced during the COP 29 climate summit, the airport will operate as Silk Way Alat Free Economic Zone Company. The airport will have 18 aircraft stands and a 4,000 m runway. It is set for completion in 2026.
