Marguisa Shipping Lines – part of the Sea & Ports Group – has appointed Wasa Projects & Chartering as its general agent in Brazil, effective January 2021.
Marguisa said the appointment is part of an ongoing expansion strategy. Full container services will supplement the carrier’s existing ro-ro links between West Africa and Brazil.
Marguisa is an established West African operator, primarily in in Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tomé & Principe, Douala, Cotonou and Lomé. Andrés Cadenas, head of sales and marketing at Marguisa, said: “We are already present in Brazil through our first-class ro-ro service to West Africa and with shipper owned containers (SOC) via feeder services, with transhipment in Tangier and Algeciras to the [aforementioned] African ports.”
Tangier and Algeciras will be the connecting ports for the Brazilian export cargoes, added Gilberto Lima, managing director of Wasa Projects. “We are looking forward to introducing our Brazilian customers to the benefit and value added that Marguisa will contribute to their business and future projects… The Brazilian market is undoubtedly one of the most important trade of the world and we cannot afford to keep this huge market out of our global services.”
