Multipurpose line Maritime Carrier Shipping (MACS) is adding the ports of Lüderitz (Namibia) and Mossel Bay (South Africa, on inducement) as calls on its monthly feeder service between the island of St. Helena and Cape Town, South Africa.
The ports of Cape Town and Walvis Bay will be used as transhipment hub for the new feeder service and the existing liner services to/from Europe and the US Gulf.
MACS said the service will create a reliable link for the Namibian fishing industry with the European export markets. Energy industry customers, meanwhile, will benefit from a scheduled multipurpose feeder connection to deliver products to Lüderitz and – on demand – to Mossel Bay.
The 70-tonne lift capacity Karoline, which also has a number of reefer plus, has been deployed on the service with immediate effect.
