Kito Crosby has secured a framework agreement with a global OEM to be the exclusive supplier of offshore crane sheaves with a safe working load (SWL) of 20-250 tonnes.
Roger Øvstetun, manager for Kito Crosby engineered solutions EMEA team, led the project alongside Torgeir Hultstrand, senior project manager at Kito Crosby. Øvstetun said: “After more than a decade of collaboration, we have established a foundation of trust and reliability with this OEM.”
Developed in collaboration with DNV and Elkem, Kito Crosby’s ductile cast iron crane sheaves were an important factor in the OEM’s decision due to their strength, durability, and fatigue resistance. The casting process for these sheaves allow for greater geometric flexibility, allowing material reinforcement in key stress areas to enhance safety without adding further weight or cost.
The OEM agreement began in November 2024 and will remain in effect through 2025, with the possibility for extension into 2026 and beyond.
Earlier this month, Kito Crosby introduced specialised overhead power line equipment.
