Finnlines has held a keel laying ceremony for its second hybrid ro-ro vessel Finneco II at the Nanjing Jinling shipyard in China.
Finneco II is part of Finnlines’ EUR500 million (USD607 million) newbuilding programme that includes two eco-sustainable ro-pax vessels plus three hybrid ro-ro units.
Emanuele Grimaldi, ceo of Finnlines, said: “The investments made already in the Finnlines’ fleet, as well as these new vessels, will ensure that we can provide very sustainable service to our customers.”
All three hybrid ro-ro vessels will sail under the Finnish flag and will provide regular connections from Finland to Sweden, Europe and the UK.
Finneco I was launched during April 2021. The second and third vessels in the series, Finneco II and Finneco III, are scheduled for delivery in 2022.
