NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers’ newbuild heavy lift ship Katori has called at the port of Nanao in Japan carrying wind turbine components. The cargoes were loaded at the ports of Dalian and Jiangyin, China.
NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers ordered the next-generation energy-saving ship from Jinling shipyard, which was delivered on September 8, 2021.
In the future, NYK explained that Katori will be engaged in the transport of various types of cargo, including LNG equipment, power plant cargo, and wind power generation equipment.
The ship is equipped with two 400-ton (362.9-tonne) capacity cranes and can lift up to 800 tons (725.7 tonnes) in tandem. The hold spans 95 m in length.
NYK added that the vessel has achieved a significant reduction in fuel consumption compared to existing ships of the same type and meets the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III requirements that will come into effect in 2025.
