Italy-based shipbuilder Cantiere Navale Visentini has taken delivery of a Cometto shipyard transporter (SYT).
The self-propelled elevating transporter has a payload of 320 tons (290.3 tonnes) and a steel platform measuring 6 m x 16 m. The accompanying equipment includes lashing points to lift the transporter with a crane, along with detachable panels on the platform.
The electronic steering allows the SYT to be manoeuvred easily in narrow spaces, said Cometto. The shipbuilders will use the transporter to assist internal movements of ship blocks and components.
