Norwegian shipping group Höegh Autoliners has transported a 55-tonne turbine from India to Europe.
The cargo, which measured 6.52 m in width and 4.46 m in height, was loaded onto the ro-ro vessel using a super-low roll trailer.
Due to the door height of the vessel having a limit of 5 m, the cargo could not be placed on a regular 0.8 m-high roll trailer. Captain Atuldutt Sharma, breakbulk sales manager in India explained that the super-low trailer – with a height of only 0.47 m – allows Höegh to transport higher cargo and as such, increase its service offering in the market.
The turbine was lashed under deck and stored in a ventilated cargo hold for its journey to Europe.
