October 29 - Hochtief Construction has been awarded a contract for an offshore wind farm from the project company Global Tech I Offshore Wind, in which several energy suppliers, energy trading companies and a number of other companies are shareholders.
Hochtief is expected to start constructing the Global Tech I park in the North Sea in the middle of 2012, 110 km northwest of Cuxhaven.
The project will see 80 foundations, each with a weight of 950 tonnes, anchored to the seabed. The 5 MW windmills will then be mounted using special platforms which extend 150 m out of the water.
Beluga Hochtief Offshore's special jack-up vessel will be used for the first time In this project.
Hochtief says that it has also developed a tailor-made logistics concept which allows construction time to be reduced significantly.
