The Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of the pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Grande Halifax at the Jinling Shipyard in China.
Grande Halifax, which has a length of 199.9 m and a width of 32.3 m, is the last in a series of three sister ships.
Like its sister vessels, Grande New York and Grande Baltimore, the vessel can carry 6,700 car equivalent units (ceu), or 4,000 linear metres of rolling freight and 2,500 ceu.
Equipped with four hoistable decks, the vessel is capable of transporting any type of rolling cargo up to 5.2 m in height, says Grimaldi.
In addition, the vessel also has a side ramp and a quarter stern ramp, the latter allowing the loading of freight with a weight up to 150 tonnes.
With the arrival of Grande Halifax, Emanuele Grimaldi, managing director of the Grimaldi Group, said the expansion programme of its car carrier fleet continues without interruption.
"After this first order, our fleet will be soon further upgraded with the delivery of an additional seven vessels, which will be the biggest car carriers on the market."
Grande Halifax will be deployed on the group's weekly Mediterranean-North America service.
