Höegh Autoliners has introduced a direct express service from Europe to the USA, Mexico and Oceania.
The monthly service will connect the European ports of Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Southampton, Le Havre, and Santander with Baltimore and Jacksonville in the USA, Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico, and destinations in both New Zealand and Australia via the Pacific Ocean.
The heavy lift and specialist cargo berth Blount Island Marine Terminal at the Port of Jacksonville (Jaxport) will serve as the last US East Coast port of call in the rotation.
According to Jaxport, the ro-ro service is scheduled to begin in March 2018 with the sailing of Höegh Jeddah.
Vessel rotation will include Auckland in New Zealand as well as Brisbane, Port Kembla, Melbourne and Fremantle in Australia.
Höegh's Horizon class vessels offer up to 6.5 m of free deck height and can cater for cargo weighing up to 375 tonnes. These vessels are able to handle a wide variety of rolling cargo such as cars, pickups, buses, trucks and construction machinery, as well as project cargo. With roll trailers ranging from 20 to 80 ft (6.1 m to 24.4 m) and offering a carrying capacity up to 160 metric tonnes, the shipping line can cater for commodities such as trains, windmill parts and breakbulk cargo.
