The Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA) has elected a new president and board, with Fulvio Carlini succeeding Javier Dulce to head up the organisation.
During the annual meeting, which brings together key figures from the shipping value chain to discuss best practices and help shape the future of the industry. This year’s event, which was held in Athens, was hosted by the International Maritime Union and attracted a record attendance of delegates from over 40 countries.
The FONASBA board is now made up of individuals from Italy, Argentina, Hungary, Jordan, Egypt, Brazil, Japan, Belgium, Greece and Türkiye.
The meeting included a mixture of networking opportunities, seminars and presentations. Topics covered included matters such as environmental regulations, the future of maritime trading, maritime digitalisation, the impact of geopolitical events, as well as seafarers’ welfare.
“As this meeting highlights, there are some interesting times ahead for our industry,” said Carlini. “The environmental and digital challenges, combined with the geopolitical shifts we face today, require adaptability and resilience – qualities that FONASBA has championed since 1969.”
