The first of five Orca-class heavy lift multipurpose vessels, Elise, has been launched at Wuhu Shipyard, China.
Elise incorporates advanced technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact while maximising efficiency. Each vessel features two 800-tonne lifting capacity cranes.
Last year, SAL Heavy Lift signed an option for the fifth Orca-class newbuild vessel with Wuhu Shipyard.
The first two newbuilds in the programme will be exclusively involved in the transport of offshore wind turbine components in a long-term commitment with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The later vessels in the series will enter the premium heavy lift shipping market to serve clients of the JSI Alliance.
