Express Global Logistics (EXG) completed the transport of heavy and oversized hydropower equipment from Adani Hazira Port to a designated site in Gujarat.
The operation involved the movement of 18 large parcels, including two massive cold boxes and a heat exchanger.
The two cold boxes, each weighing 232.5 tonnes, measured 62.7 m in length, 6.56 m in width, and 6.6 m in height.
EXG employed specialised hydraulic axles, configuring 28 axles to distribute the weight of the cargo evenly. SPMTs with 24 axle lines were utilised to navigate the various challenges along the route.
The company undertook civil works to ensure smooth passage, addressing road conditions by filling potholes and preparing the infrastructure for the heavy load. Collaborating with local authorities, EXG temporarily dismantled infrastructure such as electrical wiring, camera poles and navigation boards to accommodate the cargo’s dimensions. Once the cargo had passed, these elements were reinstalled.
Navigating tight curves along the route posed another challenge due to the length of the equipment. EXG addressed this by dismantling road dividers to prevent damage to the cargo. After the passage of the equipment, the dividers were quickly rebuilt.
