The equipment will support EJMT in handling bulk, project and container cargo once the terminal commences operations in September.

“The equipment is central to our ongoing development of the Lamongan terminal, which, upon completion in September, will serve as a new domestic and international gateway for our customers,” said Patrick Chan, EJMT chief executive officer.

The hybrid MHCs are the latest additions to EJMT’s equipment fleet, which includes reach stackers, empty container handlers, container spreaders, tractors and trailers. EJMT is also set to take delivery of grabs and hoppers by late August.

Last year, ICTSI held a groundbreaking ceremony at EJMT. Serving the Lamongan, Tuban and central Java hinterlands, the development consists of a 300 m quay line, breakwater, and a super-heavy lift breakbulk deck. The navigational channel will be dredged to 13.5 m.

The Lamongan Shorebase, operated by PT Eastern Logistics, has been supporting oil and gas customers there since 2006. PT Eastern Logistics ceo David Lim said: “The development of EJMT will provide domestic and international access to our existing and new customers, who will also benefit from the reduced overall supply chain costs. The heavy lift deck will allow us to support the upcoming project developments in Eastern Indonesia, as well as receive decommissioned platforms.”
