Jacket structures for the 950 MW Moray East offshore wind farm have been loaded onboard an OHT heavy transport vessel at Rig Metals’ facilities in Dubai, UAE.
DEME Offshore oversaw the loading operations and the jackets are now being transported to Scotland, UK.
According to DEME, this was the last batch of structures manufactured by Rig Metals, part of Lamprell. The company was contracted for the fabrication of 45 foundation jackets and three offshore substation jackets.
Smulders is currently building 55 jackets at its yards in Belgium and the UK for the project.
In another key milestone, DEME Offshore has installed the third and final offshore transformer module (OTM) substation.
“Managing to perform the seamless installation of the third offshore substation and keeping foundation production firmly on schedule are both something we can be proud of given the unprecedented challenges we have faced,” said Bart De Poorter, general manager at DEME Offshore.
