Connecticut Port Authority in the USA has submitted a permit application to the US Army Corps of Engineers for an infrastructure improvement project that will develop a facility capable of supporting the region’s wind energy sector.
The proposed project, which would take place in the Thames River at State Pier, New London, aims to create a regional wind energy port facility that will also be able to support other existing breakbulk cargo operations.
The proposed two-phase State Pier infrastructure improvement project includes demolition activities, onshore site work and in-water activities in the Thames River.
The second phase of the project will see the construction of a central wharf area and heavy lift pad.
