February 6 - Clipper Group has been awarded ISO 50001 - Energy management systems, certification for its fleet of vessels.

The accreditation covers both Clipper Fleet Management as a company and the vessels that the group currently manages. "To us, the ISO 50001 certification is a valuable recognition and documentation that we're doing the right things within fuel efficiency and energy management," commented Kristian Morch, group ceo at Clipper.

The ISO 50001 standard specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system. Lloyd's Register performed the certification and according to Lloyd's Register Nordic marine manager, Ian Revell: "With the emphasis on energy efficiency in shipping today the ISO 50001 standard really can help our clients manage their systems to maximise their energy efficiency."

In addition to the ISO 50001 certification, Clipper Fleet Management and all vessels under its control have been awarded ISO 14001 certification for overall environmental management.
