CLdN and Transfennica will connect their respective shipping services in Zeebrugge, Belgium, to provide broader con-ro connections through Northern and Western Europe.
Transfennica’s Northern Baltic service between Antwerp and the ports of Hanko, Kotka, Rauma (Finland) and Paldiski (Estonia) will call at CLdN’s Albert II terminal in Zeebrugge every other Thursday enabling the exchange of northbound and southbound cargo. The first call scheduled for July 25. The link will also transhipment of breakbulk and mobile machinery, containers, tank containers, trailers, reefers, and automotive units.
Gary Walker, chief operating officer of CLdN ro-ro, said: “This combination is an innovative and collaborative way to provide an even broader service and reach for our customers. Compared to long-distance road transport it offers a reduced administrative and permitting burden and a significantly reduced CO2 footprint.”
The collaboration marks another move this year by CLdN to expand its services. In February, HLPFI reported that CLdN acquired Broekman Distriport Real Estate and its subsidiary Broekman Distriport in Rotterdam, the Netherlands,
