UK-based Carisbrooke Shipping has placed an order at Thecla Bodewes Shipyards for a series of diesel-electric multipurpose dry cargo vessels.
The contract signing ceremony took place in the beginning of September 2023. The construction of a Labrax 7,280 dwt multipurpose dry cargo vessel represents the start of Carisbrooke Shipping’s fleet renewal plans. Delivery is scheduled for 2026.
The deal was signed by Thecla Bodewes, ceo of the shipyard, and Helen Tveitan, ceo of Carisbrooke Shipping. The companies said that the diesel-electric propulsion system onboard the vessel, in combination with an advanced power-management system, minimises energy losses and fuel consumption, and reduces CO2 emissions.
