Offshore installation contractor Cadeler has consolidated its position in the Polish offshore wind market by signing a vessel reservation agreement (VRA) with Ocean Winds.
The agreement involves the installation of wind turbine generators at the BC-Wind offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea, with the potential value of the contract to be negotiated but believed to be between EUR48-56 million (USD50.3-58.7 million).
Cadeler will deploy one of its O-class vessels and will transport and install around 30 wind turbine generators for the project, which will have a capacity of up to 500 MW and is located approximately 23 km from the Polish coastline.
“Poland has become a significant player in the offshore wind market, and we look forward to once again be working in the Baltic Sea contributing to the development of offshore wind energy in the region,” said Mikkel Gleerup, ceo of Cadeler.
The project, which is Ocean Winds’ first in Poland, is scheduled for completion in 2028.
In October 2024, Cadeler signed firm contracts for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind energy projects in Poland, meanwhile earlier this month the company secured two contracts for its newbuild wind installation vessel, Wind Mover.
