Cadeler has contracted Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry for the construction of two X-class wind turbine installation vessels.
The vessels are set to be delivered by the third quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, respectively. The contract amounts to USD325.5 million per vessel.
Construction of both X-class vessels will start immediately at Cosco’s shipyard in Qidong. The first unit has already been contracted for the Sofia offshore wind farm in the North Sea, owned by RWE. Cadeler will deploy the vessel to assist Siemens Gamesa with the transport and installation of 100 wind turbines.
