Norway’s Boa signed a contract with Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore for the construction of its in-house designed Boabarge 39, plus an option for Boabarge 40.
Delivery of Boabarge 39 is expected in Q3 2026. Its capabilities make it suitable for load-out and float-off operations, heavy load transportation, drydocking, salvage operations, and decommissioning projects.
“We are excited to partner with Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore for the construction of Boabarge 39,” said Ole Bjørnevik, ceo at Boa. “This contract underscores our commitment to providing state-of-the-art solutions for our clients, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability in the maritime and offshore industry.”
The barge has dimensions of 166 m x 73.38 m x 9.15 m, a submerging capacity 22.5 m water above deck, and a cargo capacity of roughly 57,500 tonnes. It has a high deck strength of 35 tonnes per sq m. It also features a hybrid power system comprising solar and battery generators, as well as shore power integration.
