January 20 - BNSF Logistics has opened its global project cargo centre in Houston, USA, which will provide pricing, solutions development, carrier management and operations execution to its customers engaged in the movement of over dimensional and overwei
The project cargo centre will bring together the resources of Albacor Shipping and EP-Team, two companies which were acquired by BNSF in December 2012, as well as the BNSF staff under a single office.
The centre brings together 16 key individuals with extensive experience in international freight and project cargo, and will be overseen by Michael Halm, formerly of Albacor Shipping, as director of the project cargo centre.
"Houston is the North American nexus for project cargo movements. It was our good fortune that all three companies that now make us BNSF Logistics' global service capabilities had existing presence in Houston with talented and very experienced staff," said the company's president, Ray Greer.
BNSF is planning for ongoing additions to staff capacity in Houston, as well as offshore offices in Europe, Asia and South America in the coming year.
