Freight forwarder Bertling Logistics has delivered five out-of-gauge (OOG) silos from Kartepe, Türkiye, to the UK.
The 81-tonne units began their journey by truck from Kartepe to the port of Derince, Türkiye, where they were loaded onto a waiting heavy lift vessel bound for the port of Southampton.
Upon arrival at the port, one silo was transported to the project site in Slough. The four remaining silos are being stored at the port until they are delivered in the required sequences, said Bertling.
Bertling’s scope included pre-carriage transport from the Turkish supplier to the port of loading; port handling; loading and lashing supervision; ocean transport to the port of discharge; and on-carriage transport to the site.
In addition, the freight forwarder also transported 40 full truck loads of cargo from Türkiye to the UK.
