February 6 - The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) has taken delivery of the first of six general cargo ships ordered from Hyundai MIPO in 2011.
The ship is named Bahri Abha and is the first of six vessels that were contracted by Bahri with this shipyard in 2011 for a total value of SAR1,543 (USD411) million.
Bahri has five general cargo vessels remaining under construction at Hyundai MIPO in South Korea with delivery expected to take place during this year and the first half of 2014.
All six ships specialise in carrying general and project cargoes and several types of ro-ro cargoes. They are equipped with heavy lift cranes; and each is 26,000 dwt.
