Allseas has been awarded a contract for the removal, transfer, load in and disposal of the Gyda platform in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.
The contract, awarded by Repsol Norge, covers both 18,000-tonne topsides and an 11,200-tonne jacket, and includes an option for reinstallation on another field. Also included is an option for the removal, transfer, load in and disposal of the jacket’s 32 conductors, weighing 3,100 tonnes in total.
The platform started operating in 1990. According to Allseas, it is still in good technical condition, prompting Repsol to consider using the platform elsewhere.
Allseas’ vessel Pioneering Spirit will be used for the project, with removal planned to commence in late 2020.
