Allseas has secured a contract with DEME Offshore to install a substation for France’s Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.
To install the substation jacket and topside in the first half of 2024, Allseas will deploy its offshore construction vessel, Pioneering Spirit.
DEME will perform the installation of the pin piles for the substation foundations and transport the jacket and topside to the installation site. The jacket and topside structures will then be transferred to Pioneering Spirit and installed using the vessel’s 5,000-tonne crane.
Matthijs Groenewegen, Allseas vice president projects, said: “This latest award builds on our earlier successful collaboration with DEME on the Saint-Nazaire project and illustrates the important role Allseas can play, both in terms of transport and installation, in this fast-growing, sustainable offshore industry.
“Weather and tidal conditions at the installation location can be challenging, which we’re able to mitigate thanks to the unprecedented size and stability of our installation vessel.”
Earlier this year, DEME Offshore won two contracts for the transportation and installation of foundations and a substation for the Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm, as HLPFI reported here.
