Multipurpose carrier AAL is launching a Europe - Middle East/India - Asia monthly liner service later this month.
The service will utilise AAL’s second-generation 31,000 dwt A-class fleet of multipurpose ships, which have 40,000 cu m of cargo intake capacity and a 700-tonne lifting capability.
The liner service will follow a fixed route with other port calls available on inducement. Base ports will include Antwerp (Belgium), Porto Marghera (Italy), Jebel Ali (UAE), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Mumbai (India), Singapore, Shanghai, Tianjin (China) and Masan (South Korea).
AAL has appointed Captain Kay Goldenstein to oversee the operation from the company’s European head office in Hamburg.
Christophe Grammare, AAL’s commercial director, said: “The Europe – Middle East / India – Asia monthly liner service is a natural addition to our existing portfolio of tailor-made tramp chartering solutions and other established scheduled liner services between Asia and Oceania.”
He added: “Goldenstein is just the person we wanted to run this service and he makes a valuable addition to our already strengthened European team. We will soon be issuing the first schedule for this service and, in fact, are already taking cargo bookings through our local network of offices along the route.”
